Inclusive Social Programming

HDCS offers monthly inclusive dances held on the last Thursday of each month during the fall and winter months. They are held at St. Augustine Parish Hall in Humboldt, and they run from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and the cost is $5.00 per person. You never know who will show up to dance with us…everyone is welcome!

HDCS offers a variety of adult & youth Social Programs. Our youth (age 10-18) and adult social clubs are inclusive programs intended to enhance social and recreational opportunities. We encourage and develop social skills in natural, fun, and engaging environments. For anyone requiring additional supports please invite your mentor or caregiver along for the fun! Our activities include such things as bowling, swimming, games, puzzles, bingo, karaoke, talent shows, crafts, movies, etc. Please contact HDCS to sign up for announcements and RSVP your spot!

New to HDCS is our adult activity and drop in programming.  This programming provides opportunities to foster friendships, learning, and wellness for our participants. Our activities include such things as cooking, nutrition and wellness, self-care, mental health, physical activity, sexual health, safety, budgeting, etc. Please contact HDCS to sign up for announcements and RSVP your spot!

Summer Recreation & Respite Camp

This is a summer day camp that runs throughout July & August.

The program is intended for children who may require some extra support at camp. A Coordinator plans events and schedules and additional post-secondary students are part of the support team to ensure supervision is appropriate for our campers needs. This program is very flexible and HDCS strives to work with the schedules and needs of each family.

There is no registration fee for this camp. A cost of approximately $25 is requested to assist with activity expenses. Activities include playing at the park, crafts, gymnastics, movies, bowling, swimming, music, field trips to regional lakes, community site-seeing and tours, theme days and much more.

This program is operated through grants and fundraising only. This means there is a limited number of spaces available so register early! The deadline for registrations is typically mid-April.

This program is intended for children aged 4-16, who may require some extra support at camp due to varying abilities.

If you are a parent wanting to register a child, or a post-secondary student returning to school in the fall who is interested in this employment opportunity, please speak with Mara.
